We survived the first leg of the trip relatively unscathed. The kids were a little restless through Oklahoma but nothing that couldn't be solved with a little bit of Mr. Stinky Feet's road trip songs, Scooby Doo dvd's and about a dozen or so different things for Jude to chew on.
We stopped at a folksy buffet outside of Oklahoma City and then stopped to sleep for the night in Amarillo around midnight. Madie was very confused about the concept of hotels and wanted to know where everyone else in the house was. Jude had a hard time sleeping but we were glad to be out of the car for a few hours.
Sunday, June 15
We made it! We got to the mountains around sunset last night and had a breathtaking view as we were driving into Phoenix. We were tired but Bill had one of his famous home-brewed octoberfest beers waiting for us. We woke up and went for a jog and then a swim. Jude had his first underwater experience. Now Madie is enjoying a popcicle that "Oji Bill" gave her, he is her friend for life now.
