Chúc Mừng Năm Mới

this weekend we went to springfield to
celebrate Tết, or vietnamese new year. it is the most important holiday in
vietnam, much like christmas is in the states. madie put on her new outfit and
got lì xì (lucky money) from ba (grandma doan) and posed in front of the tet
tree. this year is the year of the rat.

tradionally the first visitor of
the new year determines the luck and fortune for the household, known as xon
dat, usually it is ba, but this year uncle Tum showed up early so he had that
honor! :)

as always there was lots of delicious food ( ăn
